Sycamore Lodge atrium dining area by Furncare

Furncare customer Shaw Healthcare have upgraded one of their flagship residential care homes. Sycamore Lodge consists of three units providing complex nursing care, respite care and specialist care for residents with dementia.

Competitive Tender

Award-winning RIBA architects Noma originally designed Sycamore Lodge in 2008. Last year Shaw Healthcare invited Noma back to upgrade the already striking facility, and Furncare won the tender to work with them to furnish three floors of Sycamore Lodge. The scheme includes the spectacular atrium dining area, garden rooms and linkways which Noma designed with bright, bold new garden-themes following consultation with residents at the home.

Made to Order

Bespoke Furncare furniture was made to order and all the pieces were delivered and installed in time for the official unveiling by Sir Liam Fox MP.

“We’re so impressed by Furncare. It’s great to receive such a reliable service and great quality, especially with something as important as our furniture.”

Geraint Evans, Director, Shaw Healthcare

The dramatic atrium floods natural light into the heart of the building which allows luxuriant potted plants to flourish. Against the dramatic backdrop and overlooked by open spaces on three floors, the communal dining area is furnished to the highest standards. Bespoke high-performance upholstery on the dining chairs paired with Livonia dining tables, enables residents to dine in comfort in the light airy space.

The outdoor theme continues into the garden rooms. Bespoke upholstery on the Furncare sofas and soft seating complements the lush foliage on the wallcoverings. You can see faux leather and stylish fabric combinations. Floral designs, complementary colours and contrast piping set off the cushions and soft furnishings. Comfortable seating, coffee tables and rest spaces for residents along the corridors provides a seamless, quality environment for residents.

“Shaw Healthcare, Noma and Furncare have shown how great partnerships help to create wonderful environments for residents. Sycamore Lodge is living proof of that…”

Katharine  Hegarty BArchDes, DipArch, PGCert RIBA, Director, Noma Architects
